In India around 1920 Shri Yogendra; a forward thinking Indian Yoga Guru took yoga practice away from the traditional spiritual settings and made it accessible for the mainstream population. He promoted yoga for health and healing in everyday life for everybody. This became the new age of yoga which eventually spread world wide and today there are over fifteen thousand yoga teachers in the United Kingdom alone!
Yoga is not just a practice for bendy flexible people. I believe Shri Yogendra's message is just as relevant today as it was in the 1920'S.

My Yoga journey
I have been practicing yoga for over 35 years and I qualified as a Dru Yoga Teacher over 18 years ago www.druyoga.com
I enjoy being part of Dru's Global Community where I have had the privilege of training under gifted teachers including Annie Jones, Nanna Coppens and Andrew Wells.
I continue to engage in professional development and post graduate training opportunities and I take advantage of the wealth of experience and knowledge of a world wide team of tutors and practitioners.

I specialise in providing evidence informed Adaptive and Chair Based Yoga, Yoga for Back care & Wellbeing and Calm and Relax Yoga and Coaching. I work with a range of people including those living with physical and mental health challenges. I offer a supportive space and provide practical tools to help you manage symptoms and rediscover balance, confidence and ease in your life.
Calm Space adaptive and chair based yoga provides all the elements of traditional yoga, underpinned in the classic Dru Yoga teachings of self care for body mind and spirit.

I enjoy the yoga class with Dorothy, the exercises are great for me with being older. I like to keep my body moving even if it is just gently. I always feel rejuvenated afterwards. ​​I had never taken up yoga until I developed a disabling condition in my 60's. I was uncertain how I would get on but from the start, Dorothy provided a reassuring space to learn and benefit from gentle yoga exercises. At first I was more able to do yoga whilst standing , but now we do chair yoga which I find more comfortable.
Dorothy is an excellent yoga teacher. She is very experienced and is able to adapt her sessions to meet the specific needs of her clients. What I especially like is Dorothy's gentle caring manner. She is always sensitive to my needs and I look forward to do yoga with her.
